eMastered vs Ditto Mastering for Beat Makers: Which Fits Your Volume?
Published · by Loopin
Ditto charges per download and eMastered charges per period, so the winner is decided by how many masters you finish in a month, not by features. Here is the break-even, plus a free route that beats both on cost.
Start with what each one charges
At the time of writing (October 2026), Ditto’s support article says you can preview your full-length track for free and pay $5 to download the final master. It was launched with Masterchannel, and Ditto’s German and Spanish help pages describe a 24-bit WAV with no subscription.
eMastered’s help centre lists the same features on every plan and three ways to pay: $39 a month with no commitment, $19 a month on a 12-month commitment, or $156 billed upfront for the year. A newer help article says plans can vary by region, so check the pricing page before you pay.
Run the break-even at your own volume
Ditto: $5 times masters. eMastered at the upfront price: $156 divided by 12 is $13 a month, whatever you finish. That puts the break-even point at 3 masters a month. At 2 masters Ditto costs $10 and eMastered $13; at 5 it is $25 versus $13; at 10 it is $50 versus $13; at 20 it is $100 versus $13.
On the 12-month commitment ($19 a month, $228 over the year) the break-even point is 4 masters a month. On the $39 monthly plan it is 8, so month-to-month only wins if you need unlimited masters for a single busy month. These are list prices; taxes and regional pricing move them.
Count the revisions, not just the releases
Per-download pricing punishes you for changing your mind. If a client or an artist asks for a different version, each re-export you want to keep is another $5 under a per-download plan, while a subscription treats the third revision like the first. Previews are free on both, so audition everything before you pay.
Beat makers selling a tape of 12 tracks hit the maths fast: 12 downloads is $60 at Ditto’s rate, which is already more than a year of eMastered billed upfront. One-off singles are the opposite case, where $5 is hard to beat.
Know what each side does well
Ditto is the simpler flow if you already distribute through them: master, then send the file on. The output format is the part that matters to pros, and Ditto’s German page says 24-bit WAV, which is something Loopin does not offer. eMastered’s strength is the all-you-can-master plan, which suits people who iterate a lot.
Neither is a human engineer. Both are automatic, take little creative direction and cannot repair a muddy mix, so for a flagship release or a client who is paying for ears, hand it to a person.
Price the free route before you subscribe
Free online mastering with Loopin has no per-track charge: mastering, previews and loudness-matched A/B are free and unlimited. Downloads are capped at 1 per rolling 24 hours with no account and 2 with a free account, so a 10-track batch takes five days of downloads. The export is a 16-bit WAV at about −14 LUFS with a −1 dBTP ceiling.
If you need more than that, Loopin Mastering Unlimited is $10 a month or $59 a year (check the pricing page for your region), which is about $0.49 per master at 10 a month on the annual plan. Compare that against Ditto’s $5 and eMastered’s $1.30 and decide whether 16-bit is enough for your use. For a longer cost run-down see pay-per-track vs subscription mastering.
Pick with a ten-minute test
Take one finished beat and master the track free, then run the same file through Ditto’s free preview. Match the loudness by ear and compare the snare, the 808 and the top end on your phone. If the paid preview is not clearly better, you have your answer before spending $5.
Write down how many masters you finished last month. Under 3, pay per track or stay free. Over 4, the subscription wins on price alone, and the real question becomes which sound you prefer.
