Loopin — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 May 2026
Loopin is a songwriting workspace for iOS. We respect your time, your work, and your data. This document explains what we collect and what we don't.
TL;DR
- Your songs, recordings, lyrics, and notes never leave your device, unless you choose to share them (export a teaser, send a backup, sign up for iCloud sync).
- We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data (e.g. "the paywall was shown") so we can understand how the app is used and improve it.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising.
What we collect
On-device only — never sent anywhere
- The songs you create, their titles, status, notes, lyrics, BPM, key, and tags
- The audio files you import or record (beats, takes, mixed variants)
- Your artist name and personalization choices (theme, waveform style, app icon)
- Your custom workflow stages
These live on your device. If you opt into iCloud sync, they sync via your private iCloud container — Apple holds them on your behalf and Loopin can not access them.
Anonymous, aggregated analytics
We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics provider, to collect anonymous usage signals. The events we fire are:
| Event | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| app_launched | Active-user count |
| song_created | How users create songs (import vs record) |
| song_stage_advanced | How songs flow through the workflow |
| recording_started | Mic-only vs over-beat usage |
| notes_opened | How often users open the writing surface |
| teaser_shared | Teaser export volume |
| paywall_shown | Which feature triggers most upgrade interest |
| purchase_completed | Aggregate purchase counts (annual vs lifetime) |
| backup_exported | Backup feature engagement |
Each event includes the event name and a small bag of non-identifying parameters. None of this carries your songs, lyrics, audio, artist name, email, location, IP address, advertising ID, or any other identifier we could use to reach you personally.
What we don't collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or account credentials. Loopin has no sign-in.
- We do not collect your IP address, precise location, or device identifier (IDFA).
- We do not access your contacts, photo library, camera, calendar, or other apps' data.
- We do not embed third-party SDKs that track you across apps or websites.
Microphone
When you tap Record a Take or Record over Beat, Loopin records audio from your device's microphone and saves it locally as an .m4a file inside the Loopin sandbox. The recording is part of your song and only leaves your device if you explicitly share or export it.
In-app purchases
Loopin Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles payment processing under Apple's privacy policy. Loopin only sees an entitlement flag ("Pro: yes/no") — we do not see your payment method, billing address, or any personal detail.
Share extension
The Loopin Share Extension lets you send an audio file from another app into Loopin. The file is copied into Loopin's sandbox and treated like any other imported track. We do not transmit shared audio anywhere off your device.
Children's privacy
Loopin is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data about anyone under 13.
Data retention
All data you create lives on your device for as long as Loopin is installed. Uninstalling Loopin deletes the local data; iCloud-synced metadata is removed when you remove Loopin from iCloud sync in iOS Settings. Aggregated analytics events are retained by TelemetryDeck according to their own policy.
Your rights
- See your data: everything is on your device — open Files → Loopin to browse the audio, or use Export library in Settings for a
.loopinbackuparchive - Delete your data: uninstall the app, or delete songs individually
- Opt out of analytics: analytics are anonymous and aggregated, so there is no per-user opt-out. If this becomes a concern, contact us and we can add a Settings toggle.
Website analytics
This policy covers the Loopin app. Our website (onloopin.com) uses two analytics tools — Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics — to understand how visitors use the site: aggregate page views and which buttons get clicked. These help us improve the page.
Google Analytics sets cookies and runs on every visit; Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless. Neither collects your name, email, or anything you'd use to be contacted, and they are separate from the app's on-device data described above. To opt out of Google Analytics on any site, you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Contact
If you have any question about this policy or how we handle data, write to privacy@onloopin.com. We aim to reply within seven days.
Changes
If this policy ever changes meaningfully, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and surface the change inside the app on next launch.
