Free Online Mastering Download Limits: Who Lets You Keep the File?
Published · by Loopin
Free to hear is not free to keep. At the time of writing (October 2026) most services let you preview free and charge for the file; here is who lets you walk away with one.
Know the two questions to ask any free masterer
Ask first: can I download for free, and how many files? Then ask: is the file full length, in a usable format? Previews are everywhere; free downloads are not. The answers decide whether a service is a tool or a demo.
Free to master and free to download are separate promises. Check each before you build a workflow around one. Write down the answer with the date: caps and plans change, and what was true in October may not be in January. If a service will not say plainly what the free tier downloads, assume it does not.
Services where the download costs money
eMastered: its help centre says it is free to test and preview against your unmastered version, and that you need a paid plan to download. Ditto: per its support article, a free full-length preview and a $5 download, with no subscription.
Both are clear about the deal, and both are fair if you release a few tracks a year. At 10 files a month, $5 a download is $50, so run the maths before you rely on a free preview.
Services where downloads are included
FL Studio: Image-Line says every licence includes the default mastering reference, with full features through FL Cloud Plus or Pro. BandLab offers free mastering with presets; we could not confirm its current download limits from an official page, so check the app before relying on them.
LANDR and Masterchannel both publish plans that vary by tier and billing period. Check the plan page for whether your tier includes WAV downloads and how many, since lower tiers can limit format or count. Open the pricing page in a private window to see what a new visitor sees, and screenshot it with the date before you decide.
Loopin's cap, in plain numbers
Free online mastering on Loopin: mastering, previews and loudness-matched A/B are unlimited. Downloads on the free tier are capped at 1 per rolling 24 hours with no account, or 2 with a free account. The file is a 16-bit WAV at about −14 LUFS with a −1 dBTP ceiling.
Loopin Mastering Unlimited is $10 a month or $59 a year; check the pricing page for your region. That is the answer if the daily cap is the thing in your way.
What a cap means for 10 tracks
With a free account (2 a day) 10 tracks is 5 days. With no account (1 a day) it is 10 days. The cap is a rolling 24 hours, so downloading both files at 9am today means the next pair at 9am tomorrow.
Use the unlimited previews to pick the feel first, then spend a download only on the keeper. Compare that to $50 at $5 a file (Ditto’s rate), or a flat plan: see free vs paid mastering for where each makes sense. If a client is waiting today, a paid plan is the honest answer. If you are not in a hurry, master the track free tonight, A/B it tomorrow with fresh ears and download only the one you still like. A day away from a master catches more problems than another round of processing. Listen once on earbuds, once on a phone speaker and once in the car before you decide.
